Dr. William E. Reichman

Dr. William E. Reichman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Baycrest, one of the world’s premier academic health sciences centres focused on aging and brain function. Dr. Reichman, an internationally-known expert in geriatric mental health and dementia is also Professor of Psychiatry on the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is a noted authority on the delivery of mental health and dementia services in nursing home settings and is co-editor of the preeminent textbook in the field on this topic.
Dr. Reichman is a former President of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and the Geriatric Mental Health Foundation and serves as a consultant to the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice on dementia and mental health-care delivery within nursing homes. Among honours received, Dr. Reichman is named among the Best Doctors in America and Canada and previously has been recognized by the New Jersey Society on Aging as Gerontologist of the Year. He is a recipient of a Bronze Telly award for an educational documentary film entitled, Reflections of Memory Lost: Understanding Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Reichman received a B.S. from Trinity College and an M.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine. He completed residency training in adult psychiatry from the UCLA-Neuropsychiatric Institute and was a fellow in neurobehavior at the UCLA-Reed Neurological Research Institute.
