Hon. Lucienne Robillard
Lucienne Robillard began her career in politics in 1989 where she was elected to the Quebec National Assembly in the riding of Chambly as a member of the Liberal Party of Quebec. Ms. Robillard held several provincial Cabinet posts, including Minister of Cultural Affairs, Minister of Education and Minister of Health and Social Services.
She later moved to federal politics where she became Member of Parliament for the Montreal riding of Westmount—Ville-Marie, and was appointed to the federal cabinet as Minister of Labour and Minister responsible for the federal campaign in the 1995 Quebec referendum. Her federal résumé also includes the positions of Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, President of the Treasury Board, Minister of Industry, Minister for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada.
In February 2006, Ms. Robillard was named deputy leader of the Liberal Party in the House of Commons. She later retired from politics on January 25, 2008.
