Jeremy Kinsman

One of Canada’s most experienced diplomats, Jeremy Kinsman heads the project for the Community of Democracies which has recently produced the “Diplomat’s Handbook on Democracy Development Support.” With over his 40 years with the Canadian Foreign Service, he has been Canada’s Ambassador to Moscow, Ambassador in Rome, High Commissioner in London and Ambassador to the European Union in Brussels.

Today, Ambassador Kinsman is also a regular commentator on foreign affairs for cbc.ca, a contributing writer for Policy Options magazine, and a frequent contributor to a variety of news outlets and journals in North America and Europe, including the International Herald Tribune. He is also a frequent speaker and lecturer in Europe and North America, was Diplomat in Residence at the Woodrow Wilson School of Princeton University from 2007-08, and is currently Regents’ Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley where, in early March, he will co-chair a major conference on the Future of North America.

Ambassador Kinsman has been a member of the Imperial War Museum in London, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and the European Policy Centre. He has also served on several non-profit Boards, including the Council for a Community of Democracies’, and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. His principal business contribution is to the Dundee Group, and he sits as an independent Director on the Board of Dundee Precious Metals, Toronto.
